I love it. I saw this movie in the theater when I was in 5th or 6th grade and was obsessed with it. We even painted a Pee Wee Herman doll to look like the Riddler. I saw 20 minutes of it on TV several years ago and couldn’t stand to watch any more. There’s a Chuck Klosterman story about Val Kilmer in which Kilmer’s daughter says that Batman Forever looks like it was directed by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Good show, guys!
Beth says
Thanks, Jake! Please tell me you still have that doll. If Dan Linden hadn’t told me it was directed by Joel Schumacher, I would have assumed the same.

I remember liking it when I saw it. My favorite part was probably the footage Mr. Enigma doctored when he killed his boss. His arms flailing as he just kind of limped through a glass window cracked me up. I have a feeling the rest doesn’t hold up to high school Aric’s memories.
Beth says
I still don’t understand how he doctored that footage. Turns out The Riddler is terrible at writing riddles, but amazing at special effects.
Aric says
Speaking of doctored footage, let me know if you do Rising Sun. Because, man, what the hell was that?
Beth says
I’ve never seen that movie, but now I feel like I should.

This is an enjoyable podcast! One of the only parts of this movie I DID remember clearly was Chris O’Donnell’s fancy karate laundry.
Dan says
Thanks Nancy, you are one of the lucky ones to remember dat sweet Chris O’Diazz only and none of the terrible neon gangs or floppy batmobile fins.
Dave C. says
“The fourth movie is BONKERS.” Very fun everyone!
